Yes. Effective May 10, 2013, the Department made it mandatory for Departmental Reemployment to be cleared before filling a vacancy by any other means with the following exceptions: 1) Employee has a Mandatory Return Right, 2) Hiring an employee who has an approved hardship for transfer, or 3) Hiring a lateral transfer same classification within CDCR. Therefore Departmental Reemployment would have to be cleared before placing an employee on an Out-of-class assignment.
